TORONTO – Nov. 1, 2023 – For the fifth year, HomeEquity Bank is the proud presenting partner of the Digital Poppy campaign, supporting the Legion National Foundation and honouring Veterans who served their country in the Canadian Armed Forces. Now, through Remembrance Day, Canadians can visit MyPoppy.ca to receive a digital poppy they can dedicate and share with loved ones for a donation supporting Veterans and their families.

“This is one of the initiatives we look forward to most at HomeEquity Bank. We are proud to serve Canada’s Veterans and their families, and to help keep their memories alive,” said Steve Ranson, President and CEO, HomeEquity Bank. “We know this can make an impact for those who served our country and their families and once again call on Canadians for their support and remembrance.”

With Letters Home warming the hearts of Canadians last year, HomeEquity Bank is continuing the campaign that brings to life a collection of genuine letters sent from Canadian soldiers overseas, mapped to the actual addresses where they were sent during the wars.

Canadians can visit Letters-Home.ca to read letters sent close to their address, along with a prompt to donate to the Digital Poppy campaign in the name of a soldier who wrote the letter.

“As time passes, Canadians need to ensure a strong connection to our history. So much of that has to do with access,” said Ranson. “It’s just as important to us that we provide ways for people of all ages to better engage with and reflect on the sacrifices these soldiers have made, and its larger meaning.”

Letters Home also features a compelling 30-second video that includes quotes from real letters, which can be viewed here. HomeEquity Bank thanks Airtime, Astral, Bell, CBC, Corus and Rogers for donating media space to share this important message.

The Digital Poppy campaign and Letters Home are two ways the Legion National Foundation and HomeEquity Bank are bringing Remembrance Day into the digital age and the hearts and minds of younger generations.

“We appreciate HomeEquity Bank and its ongoing efforts to keep this important part of our history relevant and accessible,” said David Flannigan, Chair of the Legion National Foundation. “The Letters Home let people discover a connection to a real Canadian soldier they may not have known, opening the door to relate to our Veterans and Remembrance Day in a genuine way.”

Canadians can visit MyPoppy.ca to get their own Digital Poppy in support of Canadian Veterans.

All donations receive an instant tax receipt. Generous donors are the reason the Legion National Foundation can support Veterans and their families.
