Christian Grandjean is an accomplished photographer who studied in Paris and London, and currently lives in Calgary. His first exhibition took place in London in 1979, and since then, he has exhibited his photographs throughout Europe and North America. His photographs frequently depict urban environments.

In these two images of Calgary, we see Christian Grandjean’s love of the urban environment and interest in the geometric forms. Though the perspectives in the two images are different, both highlight the focus on the straight lines of the buildings. The urban environment is the main subject, with the small slivers of sky helping only to orient us.
